Throughput Measurements and Numerical Prediction Methods for IEEE802.11n Wireless LAN Installations at 2.4 GHz in a Residential Two-Story House

This paper discusses how to predict indoor propagation characteristics in a two-story house by measurements and numerical simulations. Measurement campaigns in two different locations of access point are made to obtain a relationship between RSSI and throughput. In addition FDTD calculation results are compared with measured ones to confirm the effectiveness of measurements.

Wireless Channel Characterization: on the Validation Issues of Indoor Rf Models at 2.4 Ghz

This paper presents a case study of a Wi-Fi system operating in the frequency of 2.4 GHz. Two certain types of WLAN environments are examined: a home environment (typical residence) and a complex office environment. Experimental acquired data, for both single floor and multiple floor scenarios, are compared with the theoretical values provided by an existing plethora of indoor RF models, which ...

Experimental Investigation of Propagation Characteristics and Performance of 2.4-GHz ISM-Band Wireless LAN in Various Indoor Environments

Wireless communication systems are affected by several factors in the indoor environment. The complexity of this environment, however, has hampered the development of methods for analyzing it. Reported here is our investigation of the relationship between the propagation characteristics and performance of a 2.4-GHz ISMband wireless LAN in various indoor environments. Our objective was to develo...

Indoor Propagation Modeling at 2.4 GHz for IEEE 802.11 Networks

The purpose of this study is to characterize the indoor channel for 802.11 wireless local area networks at 2.4 GHz frequency. This work presents a channel model based on measurements conducted in commonly found scenarios in buildings. These scenarios include closed corridor, open corridor, classroom, and computer lab. Path loss equations are determined using log-distance path loss model and log...

Infrastructure Density and Frequency Reuse for Wireless LAN Systems at 17 GHz in an Office Environment

Using Wireless LANs (WLANs) in offices is becoming increasingly popular and operators start now offering access to wireless services via WLANs also in public areas. WLANs operate mostly at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Propagation properties at these frequencies require a relative high frequency reuse even for typical indoor environments, which limits their spectral efficiency. In the 17 GHz band, which is...
